O C-5 Galaxy é um avião cargueiro produzido pela empresa estadunidense Lockheed Martin, e usado pela Força Aérea dos Estados Unidos (USAF). Em tamanho o Lockheed C-5 Galaxy só não excede o An-124 Ruslan e o An-225 Myria. O desenvolvimento do Galaxy começou no início da década de 1960 para atender ao requerimento CX-4 (depois CX-HLS) da USAF.

The C-5 Galaxy is the largest airlifter in the U.S. Air Force inventory, with unmatched cargo volume and payload capacity. It can project greater combat payloads over longer distances than any other airlifter. It is also the only aircraft capable of carrying 100 percent of certified air-transportable cargo. The C-5 was built with unit integrity in mind offering a full load of combat equipment in the cargo bay as well as support personnel in the dedicated troop compartment above the cargo bay. It is designed to perform both strategic and tactical missions, with the ability to take off and land in distances as short as 5,000 ft.
The C-5 is flown by active duty, Guard and Reserve units of the Air Force and has successfully served the United States and its allies in every major contingency involving strategic interest of our nation and humanity since its first delivery nearly 40 years ago.

Trabalhei no aeroporto internacional do RJ seis anos e já tive a oportunidade de entrar nessa aeronave duas vezes: uma foi na visita do presidente americano Bill Clinton e a outra foi na visita do Papa Joa Paulo II, dentro tinha tanques blindados, helicópteros e máquinas de guerras enormes.

@edpkrlct - Não tenho essa informação mas sei que eram helicópteros, tanques blindados, containers, caixas de várias toneladas. Quando Bill Clinton esteve por aqui, no RJ, veio muito maquinário pesado dentro das aeronaves, trabalhei numa empresa chamada SATA, que cuida de todo o suporte a aeronaves no solo, na época a SATA foi chamada por que o maquinário da FAB não suportava o peso dos equipamentos americano.
