The commander of U.S. military forces in the Pacific said Thursday that the buildup of Chinese armed forces is continuing "unabated" and Beijing's goal appears to be power projection beyond Asia.

"China's rapid and comprehensive transformation of its armed forces is affecting regional military balances and holds implications beyond the Asia-Pacific region," said Adm. Robert F. Willard, the Pacific Command leader. "Of particular concern is that elements of China's military modernization appear designed to challenge our freedom of action in the region."

  • China know that Aircraft carriers are useless in Modern warfare, they are only good at attacking third grade country like Iraq and afganistan. They bought the old russian aircraft carrier to learn about technology and train their Navy. It will never be used for deployment.

A continuation of the Korean War won't result so much in American deaths as much as South and North Korean deaths. It would be a push over, but civilian South Korean casualties would be significant.

  • @HarbingerGunner By the way I wrote that they will be used for learning the technology and training its navy. You cannot train people without commissioning the vessel. Let me know if they deploy it in any confrontation.

  • @falcon010216 lol. they just launched one. nice prediction, guess you dont know as much as you thought

  • @falcon010216 true

  • Know this: China will get in the game of a being a powerful navy, no doubt about it. And once they earn how to lauch and recover aircraft, they will do it! The phillipines had better watch out when china's navy becomes operational, because they will be out to start something. And china as well as russia know that America will never use nukes to control them. Wars will become conventional again and it will happen. The china machine is hungry, and it needs fed.

  • @falcon010216 Aircraft carrier isn't just an attacking weapon, right now China is having trouble with it's sea because aircrafts cannot reach these places or cannot reach them in time to intercept or eliminate hostile targets, but with aircraft carrier, now chinese navy now effectively mobolise it's air control thus preventing neighour countries from taking advantage of china sea and air weak points. While not a great offensive weapon, carrier is excellent fort for Chinese defense.

  • @cr9527 Well the only way to know for sure is a real war, which is unlikely unless a war erupts in korea again. The chinese would perhaps aid N.Korea with supplies & resources while U.S. S.Korea pushes up north near 20 miles from the chinese border. You know what happens from that point, maybe the event would repeat itself but the result maybe different this time. Good thing U.S. won't have mcarther again to push it.

Thinking about past korean war give me chills at the deaths.Srry fo por gram

It takes an aircraft carrier 30-days to repair its deck alone.

    In times of peace

And also don't forget what happen in 2006 US kitty hawk carrier when a chinese sub slip through dozen warships

It was a stunt pulled by the USN. There was no logical reason for the Chinese sub to emerge after their stunt other than the fact that they were being harassed by the carrier group.

Keep in mind, the same kittyhawk ran over a Soviet Sub not long before this.

give the PLA the advantage to get close enough to engage the carrier fleet

With what? The first few days of the war, the PLAN would be wiped out.

China can launch 100s of missles to destroy the fleet if its close enough

More crap, assuming no nuclear retaliation, assuming the missile is accurate enough, and assuming they can some how track the fleet, the launch sites and vehicles would be devastated by Tomahawk and air strikes.
