Originally transmitted in 1981 this is the oldest edition of the show I have. It's not the strongest outing but I'm including it for the sake of completion.
Although it was only on it's third edition in four years, and in the days when VCRs were a fairly rare luxury in the UK, AOTN had become a much loved institution with the British public. Given that we only got to watch it every year or two, the viewers were a lot more forgiving so padding the show out to its full hour with relatively weaker clips was more easily forgiven.
Having said that, there's a few laugh out loud gems in here you won't find anywhere else. Enjoy :)

  • @davidn87

It is, I´ve seen it, but don´t ask me where, maybe episode 8 or 9 or so...

  • Is the one with the "Belfast phenomenon" on here anywhere?

  • i remember that clip of the american woman talking about politics, one of my fave clips

  • 6:30 is an outtake from a Yorkshire TV children's programme called Get Up & Go! which started in April that year on Thursday lunchtimes, was presented by Beryl Reid and also had a green puppet Mooncat. As a 3 year old in 1981 I used to like that programme, which was in the same slot as Rainbow. The man seen in the clip is Stephen Boxer who has appeared in various programmes including Doctors and Prime Suspect. The clip seemed to appear annually in various IBAOTN editions up to the mid 1990s.

  • Brilliant - Thank you for making me chuckle! :)

  • which episode is it where the germans or dutch people are showing how to open a milk carton and get it very wrong? thanks

  • Great theme. I finally found this after years of searching! If anyone wants to hear it in full and "in the clear" search for Graham De Wilde - Export Interntational. Cheers

  • @100roberthenry i think that might be number 8
