Frederic Chopin
Martha Argerich

The polonaise originated as a stately processional dance for the Polish nobility.

This work is nicknamed the "Heroic" polonaise, and it is one of the Polish composer's most well-known compositions.

  • i SO MUCH LOOOOVE argerich! we are so lucky to be able to listen to her playing...

  • Isn't she a goddess, though? Extremely dexterous and passionate, although she does actually make a small mistake at 5:39-5:40. Oh, the humanity!

  • Quite a great performance, but shamefully I've never been much into Chopin. Its quite odd. I do not like Chopin, Scriabin and Bach, who are beloved...:(

  • it's okay :)

it would be a shame if one didn't appreciate their works and/or try to understand the importance of their works, not fail to like listening to them.

preferring to listen to certain music is based more on it selecting us, i think, while learning about music is solely our responsibility.

  • My favourite version of this piece =D

Not to brag, but I saw Argerich live a year back and she really is a fantastic pianist. Still gorgeous looking too!

  • argerich!!!

  • It is indeed excellent, though I still prefer Ashkenazy's version.

She is so pretty in the picture in the beginning!

Dear mahlerite, did she really make a mistake in 5:39~5:40? Actually I can't tell. However, in 0:54~0:56 there is undoubtedly a mistake!

  • I have exactly this recording on my Ipod. There is simply no other version of this I've heard (apart from Igoshina's) which I love so much.
