Greenpeace's 2 exciting actions at ASEAN Summit 2009

1st action, 27 Feb 09: Greenpeace activists put the climate change onus on the ASEAN Summit today by unfurling a banner that says Ten Nations, One Vision -- Climate Action Now at a large billboard opposite the summit venue. Heads of ASEAN member states arrive in Thailand for the annual talkfest that sadly lacks climate change in its agenda in spite of worsening climate-related disasters in the region. 2nd action, 1 Mar 09: Greenpeace criticized the ASEAN leaders converging in Thailand for not taking adequate action to protect over 283 million hectares of forests in the region and threatening the very existence of forest communities and its rich biodiversity. Rampant and unchecked deforestation is resulting in massive greenhouse gas emissions responsible for runaway climate change.
