The benefits for hammock camping is how lightweight your pack is and the comfort is second to none. You can also make your own gear you just have to get the material. I think everyone should practice and camping just in case they need emergency shelter. You can carry a big deer in the car and it will be there when you need it.

You know, that's a good question. I don't remember writing that at all.

@jaystus whats a pop machine

another choice would be a bat hammock. One sturdy limb vs two smaller trees. Love your vids btw

damn, that hammock is almost as old as me!

I use a Hennessey... Tom Hennessey is always showing them at "Trail Days" in Damascus. I like a hammock with a bug net and a rain fly. They are lighter than most tents and when you get ready to sleep all you have to do is find two trees. Flat spots are a little harder to find.There is a learning curve to getting in and out but once you are situated they are comfy. I was after a tent first but couldn't find the weight at a fair price at the time (3 years ago). Stayed dry in a bad storm...amazing.

@survivalistboards are the parachute hammocks more comfortable then this kind? i have a net type old ary hammock, and i think its cofortable, but was thinking about trying a paracute hammock.
dude... get a Claytor, Clark, ENO, Hennessy, or a Travel Hammock and you'll never have to "change your mind and sleep on the ground" again. Visit Jacks R Better to see the under-hammock insulation that is bar none out of this world.
