    I meant "apologies."

I can't think of anything Stanwyck wasn't incredible in. My apoligies to Ms. Streep, but Babs is still the greatest film actress I have ever seen.

  • This is one of my top 5 favorite Stanwyck films. She is incredible in this.

  • My favorite Westerns are Bite the Bullet and Shane - it's basically a toss-up.

  • A fascinating film and a most incredible cast - Beulah Bondi, Dame Judith, and Blanche Yurka in one film, along with everyone else! Not one of my top Westerns, but definitely worth seeing, a little bit along the lines of Johnny Guitar or Rancho Notorious...contains Mann's trademark jarring violence...

Sorry. I don't get on here ofteh. If asked to name my favorite Western, if would probably be THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. I also enjoy RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY and JUBAL. About any of Jimmy Stewart's or Glenn Ford's Westerns are wonderful. And once John Wayne got out of the B Westerns, well, what can I say? :-) A lot of my friends love his B Westerns, but I'm not of fan of them. OPEN RANGE is a great example of a recent Western, and SILVERADO is terrific, as well.

  • I'm actually working on a book that Michael was going to write, but decided not to. He gave me his permisson to go for it. One Hundred Westerns a Person Should Watch. I've included quite a few that aren't classics, but fun watching. My favorite all-time western would probably be THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.

  • I haven't read Michael F. Blake, but thanks for telling me about him. I just checked him out on Amazon and his books on Westerns look great fun!

Do you have a favourite Western? I like any starring Clint Eastwood, especially The Outlaw Josey Wales and A Fistful Of Dollars (but excluding Joe Kidd, which was slightly childish). Outside of those I haven't watched a lot, I only just became interested in that genre. There Will Be Blood was amazing, but maybe it wouldn't count as a Western.

  • True. I would LOVE to sit and discuss classic films with him and Speilberg.

Have you ever read the works of Michael F. Blake? He's written some excellent books on westerns, and is a friend of mine. I basically am an email buddy of his, but got to meet him once. We talk on the phone every so often, and I LOVE talking movies with him.

  • Agreed, he certainly has - I love his films too, just a matter of taste I suppose.
