You know I've made a similar mistake to Jessica. I told a boy that my boyfriend was sleeping in my room and then he called my a slut, hoe, whore, and cunt. I also told him there was nothing going on between us. So I told the teachers the same story I told him. Then while talking to my mom my teacher found out. I was obviously in a lot of trouble, and I don't even know if any of them believe me anymore. But they have every right to not believe me. But regardless it's true. I really liked them.

The issue is he genuinely believed that she came on to him and that (because she wasn't fighting him off) she consented. She did not consent but on some level is concerned that she encouraged it, also she obviously wasn't asleep the whole time so she's probably concerned she should have acted differently. Rape sadly carries a lot of shame that can be detected in a lie detector. Stupidity has no shame.
