Yes they are patient, though birds are more noisy - check other videos and start of this one. You definately can't hear it at 10m and wouldn't see it either if you didn't know it was there. Mic is positioned close to 17000rpm props.

What an infuriating noise. You must have patient neighbours.

Great work! Just wondering, why's the RSSI so weak even indoors? Are those 2.4 GHz modules outputting at 10 dBm?
ununoctium 2 years ago
Not sure - RSSI is the 868MHz control interface (TI CC1100 IC) I run it with FEC enabled and +10dBm. It is sensitive down to -100dBm with 1/4 wave whips from memory. The reported signal strength is not totally accurate above a certain power level. I found it a fairly difficult chip to configure and use..... may have some bug.
Video TX is 2.4GHz 10dBm analogue.

I really wanna know how you did this! is it all light weight surface mount electronics?
vanepico 2 years ago
Yes all light weight stuff - custom main controller 1.0x1.5" 4.5g, packet modem 1g, camera 1g, video tx 2.5g.
