On Thursday July 26, 2007 the Town Council unanimously declared August 27th "Merrimack Toll Revolt Day" urging all Merrimack Residents to pay their tolls only using pennies. An afternoon motorcade was organized with over 100 participants involved.
According to New Hampshires Union Leader:
Governor John Lynch called Merrimack Town all at 2pm on the day of the revolt, asking for a meeting on September 21st to discuss how to avoid a town-threatened lawsuit over unfair taxation.
Merrimack residents say they pay an unfairly high percentage of tolls, and studies have shown rates as high as 42 cents a mile, compared to the average of 3 cents a mile on the turnpike system overall.

Crooks! You ask the state to pay for your exits and then back out of your debt payments. Bravo to the NH state government for standing up to your fraudulent residents.
