  • this is not a real piper! this is a Czech Aircraft Works (CAW) Sportcruiser!

  • Description above "Cessna rolls out its new Pipersport LSA". Come on AVweb you know that is two different companies, RIGHT? Typical media, if it a little plane it must be a Cessna.

  • Gotta hand it to the builders...it's an incredibly beautiful airctraft.

  • I got to fly that aircraft, it's a fantastic aircraft!

  • I've done flying lessons in the Sportcruiser. It wasn't scary.

  • Look at the VL3 ULM

  • This is really a nice airplane and I don't know why anyone would pass this up. Great for two people and some baggage for the weekend. Great panel! I figure 115kts true on 5.0gph Rotax engine is very very reliable.

  • Nice looking airplane! I really like it, but money is always the problem.

  • Thats why they have ground school where they teach you about those systems.

  • @zlin201 ,

Can you clue me in on what you mean by "regular" pilots license? I just stumbled across a few videos about this plane and it rekindled a childhood dream of flying.

Is there a different type of license associated with a plane this small?

  • @mkitch I know what you are saying but to look at it from the other side, when they first started to put in glass cockpits they put in a mechanical backup Attitude Indicator and Altimeter, now the "glass" has proved itself so much more reliable than the mechanical instruments if anything they put in a backup glass panel instrument.

You also have to learn the same instruments gyro etc just shown in a different format.

What's the point on learning mechanical instruments when glass is the future?
