Ultimate GTA 4 Rant 2 years later

*PLEASE READ THIS* For 2 years I had this shit on my chest. Its great to finally get my opinion out there. To sum up my feelings about GTA 4

GTA play times

GTA VC - 200-300 hours mainly over 2 years
GTA SA - 500+ hours mainly over 4 years, but I still occationally play it to this day


GTA 4.......... 28 hours over 1 weekend, never to be put into my Xbox again....

On the bright side Red Dead Redemption fucking RULES!!!!!!!

I'd say it was definitely 10/10. Imo, Niko was the best character in the series so far but the reaosn it gets 10/10 from me is just because it's much more epic. It's a free roam game which you would expect to be just full of stupid shit but GTA4 takes its story and characters seriously, thats what i liked most about it.

But i can see why people were disapointed because previous GTA's were crazy fun games with the story, characters the lot. But then Rockstar went all serious and dark for GTA4.

@NTom92 Thats really fair man, youre entitled to your own opinion. If it were a completley different game series maybe I could look past it but its not the GTA I knew and loved. The game may have had all of those technological marvels but it lacked the sheer amount of things to do SA and VC had. Like I said I played SA all the time for 2 years putting 500+ hours into it. I played GTA 4 one weekend for 30 hours and since then its been collecting dust.

Lol the stories in VC and SA were a joke in my opinion. Just rags to riches stories, barely even worth talking about as those games were all about the gameplay, the crazy and completely unrealistic missions (this isnt a criticism). With GTA 4 they went the opposite direction, the story was alot more mature, serious and thought provoking, and Niko was way deeper a protagonist than CJ/Tommy. The missions for me were a massive dissapointment, but the story was a massive improvement

@cocaineuk87 Youre inclined to your own opinion but honestly I dont know how you could find either VC or SA's stories bad. Yes it was about rags to riches but both were executed so well. Both had a great cast of characters and turns I never saw coming. Smoke and Ryder killing your mom, or Lance Vance betraying you. In both stories I honestly cared about exacting my revenge. A story doesnt have to be that deep to be great, just executed well which both were.

I hate this love San Andreas much better bring it back to ps3 hd I hate gta 4 and yes k kept my saints row 2 still the best out of gta 4

ye this is so true. GTA4 sucked horribly, its more like a life simulator than a video game. i got all the achievements and then sold it, saints row FTW.

GTA was a 10/10 because it was so revolutionary. It did blow our minds at the time because of so much value it had. The atmosphere it projected and the new tech used in the game was mind blowing. Ofcourse, once you get more games, you will eventually realise its not as good as it is. The reason Rockstar did not push GTA 4 to San Andreas-like because was because no one was aware of the power of the teo consoles at the time. They held features back because they thought Graphics put enough strain.
