www.catholictelevision.org An excerpt from the Catholic television program 'The One True Faith'. There are times when all Catholics suffer the pain and loss which come with being human, and sometimes God can seem very far from us indeed. In this thought-provoking and emotional episode, host Michael Voris addresses the issue of suffering -- both for individuals within the Church and for the world as a whole. Answering questions such as 'Where is God when it hurts?', this is an episode not to be missed. To purchase this episode, visit http://www.CatholicTelevision.org

  • hey , i am really into dance , should i deny this interest so that i can be closer to God and focus on Him alone ???

  • @MrDak27 If you feel called to it and you feel it will help you grow spiritually, yes. If dance is pulling you away from God, then certainly. But we should not give up things we enjoy if they are good and wholesome unless we feel called to it.

  • im about to take up a university course which could provide me with a career that is almost expected to make me very wealthy... im scared that if i choose to go down this path it will lead me away from God however my parents have given me so much to get me to this course... will i be doing something wrong by taking it?

  • What is the career that might lead you away from God?

  • civil engineering, and im looking at making 100k+ if all goes as planned, now engineering in itself wont lead me away from God but the money might.. im only 17 at the moment and am exceptionally talented at math, so for me to just say no to course would look idiotic from my family's point of view

  • No Of course, civil engineering in itself won't lead you away from God.

And earning a good paying compensation for your efforts isn't a guarantee of loosing your faith either.

If God has given you a gift of being able to grasp the laws of nature and mathematics, then you are good to pursue that gift for His greater glory. But we are all under that obligation, no matter our talents or gifts. Money does not make us leave God, but the love of money does. Always make God your first concern.

  • Amen! Amen! There are too many practicing Christians who are living too comfortably with their lives, people forget that being a true Christian requires sacrifice, penance, fasting etc. People always forget the SINS OF OMMISION, it is not enough that we worship the Lord in word but also in action, feeding the poor, clothing the naked etc. and going that extra mile even if it requires sacrifice on our part. If your sacrifice causes you pain for the glory of God then blessed indeed are you!

  • he is and i pray that he always will be thanks for answering my question my biggest fear is that if i do become above average in terms of wealth, that I as alot of people do will become attatched to my possessions

  • >> That is like going against humanity itself.

It is certainly going against humanity's fallen nature.

    >> What kind of temptations do you mean? Great food? Bodily pleasures? Aesthetic beauty? The desire to be successful?

Yes, yes, yes and yes :) But not just that. Any pleasure or temptation which is opposed to Christ is to be avoided, as otherwise it damages the life of Christ in us. Generally speaking, it is selfishness which is at the core of all sins.

  • Of course it hurts. That is like going against humanity itself. What kind of temptations do you mean? Great food? Bodily pleasures? Aesthetic beauty? The desire to be successful?
