A quick tour of Los Angeles, California's KNX 1070 Khz AM 50,000 watt all news radio radio station transmitter and radio antenna site located in Torrance, California.I apologize for the some what fuzzy and low quality video due to 2nd or 3rd generation copy of a very old video tape. This radio station covers the Los Angeles and Southern California area during the day and can heard through out the Western USA at night. For more information on radio station KNX, simply type in KNX into any major search engine such as Google. This video was taped on July 11th, 1993 by Bill Wolverton, KI7F.

My e-mail is at ki7f@yahoo.com and my home web site is http://www.ki7f.com/ and I have hundreds of photos posted at http://community.webshots.com/user/ki7f2 and I have a MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/ki7f

  • What about the inside?

  • I saw this site years ago when I was 14 on a vacation; it was great!

  • thanks for showing us great job

  • I live here in the Atlanta area (used to live in SoCal for nearly five years in the 90's) and for the first time this morning was able to hear KNX briefly on my local radio, although very faint. Although I listen to them online back east here, it was still great getting them on a stereo radio.

  • You will not get a electric shock from a radio tower as there is no voltage per say, Its RF thats on the tower, all you would get is a nasty burn and you would have to climb it and touch the very top of it to get a rf burn, the guys who change those aviaton lights to it when the station is on the air.

  • so, FM towers don't have much difference?

i know that many radio stations and tv stations have remote transmitter sites, meaning that the tower or towers, are miles and miles from the studio

  • no they guy wires hold it in place

  • Agreed.
