When I draw back my memories to the early childhood, it always was color and painting that was my fascination. Unfortunately fine arts as a field of study was not a good idea for life. That was what my parents thought. My father's hobby was photography, so I decided to follow him. In choosing — as I thought then — a career the deciding role played also a superb in those days system camera — PENTAX. Painting and other fields of art were always present as a subject in my photography. As a result, as soon as I received a diploma I left darkroom and never came back there. I worked as a decorator, which brought me few prizes in competitions in windows decoration. That gave me fun and was a good way of preparation to my examination before artistic studies. In 1989, before Berlin wall fell down, I emigrated to North Europe. In Sweden I decided about my life by myself — new schools, nostrification of Polish exam for secondary school certificate. Exams! My studies in Dômen Konstskola started quite late, taking into consideration an average age of a student. When I started studies, in 1994, I was 29 years old. In 1997, after third year on Painting Faculty I received a scholarship. As an award rector encouraged me (which I had to accept without argument) to change profile of my studies into Sculpture Faculty. I had to agree, because except sculpture I could choose only graphic, which I had on the first year of my studies... and I knew that it is not for me. Dirty and dark! Two years on Sculpture Faculty had a great influence on me. It showed me new possibilities, opened my eyes on space, installations, object. It became a part of my life. Later photography came back, but in a digital form, as an element important in my work. Combining of different techniques, photographing objects, copying and multiplying photography, and as a result connecting them into an image — collage! — it became my favorite way of creation. A huge role in forming my artistic work played those previously „unwanted" fields of art. They appeared to be indispensable tools in my artistic message, which I am trying to send to audience with an emotional commitment. An object in space — not as an individual, painting not only on canvas and paper, giving new shape to objects usually passed by without focusing our attention, drawing on porcelain... That's where we can find roots of bird's family made in porcelain, painted in a very graphic way, showed in space, and afterwards photographed as if it was a beginning of something, that has a final effect, but is at the same time the beginning of new challenge.
