Boss SP 303 Mad Dreamy (ReKoNize)

just got this sp 303 last thursday the 17th of june, 2010... great machine for what i paid... this is my first time ever using a beat machine/ sampler and i love it all ready. suprisingly easy to use too. ive been using software for like 5 years now so this sp 303 is like a new world to me lol but anyways this is the second beat i made on it so far... ragedy but oh well lol

That's so sick man ive been fiendin to get a drum machine myself... most of my experience has also been with programs... but these videos are making me want something like this....  can't afford the mpc at all but maybe just maybe i could get my hands on one of these they look fun!!!!

@CalmplexLocust yeah i was in the same boat man! i wanted a mpc 2000 or 3000 for like a year and tried saving up but other financial things kept getting in the way! but then i discovered the sp 303 reading about how this machine was a HUGE part of creating DONUTS by Dilla!(which is basically what made me buy it) then i found out madlib MAINLY uses this machine for all his work, and seen mf doom on a few few pictures with it!!! Then i found out how cheap i cud get it for and it was a rap!!!

@CalmplexLocust so yeah man, if u cant get an mpc, definitely get one of this sp! i think for someone just starting on samplers and beat machines coming from software, this is a great machine to start off with, cuz it opens u up cuz it opens u up for the bigger better machines like the mpc's and mv 8000's and asr 10's and etc! for me so far, i found that its a little harder to chop up samples on this machine and ofcourse ur more limited then software but its fun as hell and once u get the hang

@CalmplexLocust ur gone!!! its very easy to figure out and it makes u appreciate sampling so much more! so yeah go for that sp 303! i hear the sp 404 is a lil better too. u get more pads and i think more banks too! and u its more updated

@BigBaggaBlues I see what you're saying, and although I love Reason, I like the hardware because I prefer staying of the computer as much as possible for music, I get distracted to easy and start watching youtube vids. But yeah the 303 has a limited pattern sequencer but to me it forces creativity

@arkyve31 when you start getting to those levels of complexity thats what a computers for imo though. everyones different though i spose. i nearly bought a 303 for £50 but didnt because i read online it didnt have a sequencer... what a fool!! i thought that meant it was literally one shot sound triggering only. god im a dick

@BigBaggaBlues the mpc 500 isn't truly a mpc, I love the 303 and a sp 555, but also own multiple mpc's. Comparing the mpc 4000's and what not to 555 is not even realistic. At the end the day though it doesn't really matter what people use IMO, but sp555 can't be compared to the higher end mpc's.

@OfficialReKLisT who said you need an mpc, just because every fucker uses them... maybe thats a reason not to, id rather have an sp555 or a 404 or even the 303 over a mpc500, samiyam uses one to, in fact he does his full live set on a sp404, so does dibiase... hmmm starting to add up?? these are more creative machines man, mpc's are geared towards oldschool motown beats
