Step into a pair of snowshoes and imagine what it's like to walk through deep, fluffy snow in a Northern Ontario field surrounded by woods and a partly cloudy sky. It's perhaps the best way to get around in the winter through deep snow.
@OutdoorsAndSuch My experience has shown that in 12 inches of [powder, even with snowshoes on you would sink 6-8 inches, but wearing them makes a huge difference. Actually in only 12 inches of snow you could probably go without snowshoes, but in 18--24 inches they are almost essential. I have never Nordic skiied, but would welcome comments on that topic.
