It is an enormous problem; it is important that progress is made toward reducing fossil fuel use and mitigating climate change. However, it is not a 'what-the-hell-lets-try-everything' sort of problem. Nor is it a 'some science guy will solve it with high technology, so throw money that way' kind of problem. As we speak Mr. Chu is wasting a once in a lifetime opportunity to use near zero cost capital to revamp electricity from coal to nuclear, in favor of throwing it away on wind and solar.
