"The difference in our approaches is clear. We don't think all the answers lie in Washington."

--

"The problem with this approach is we don't want to have to sit in Washington and mandate all these things. What you're saying is you want to define exactly what kind of health insurance people can have, you want to mandate that they buy this kind of health insurance, and so on.

"We simply say - if the National Restaurant Association or the National Federation of Independent Business on behalf of their members wants to set up an association health plan, we think they'll probably do a good job on behalf of their members.

"Let them decide to do that instead of restricting insurance competition. By federalizing the regulation of insurance, and by mandating exactly how it'll work, you make it more expensive and you reduce the competition among insurers for peoples business.

"We want to decentralize the system, give more power to small businesses, more power to individuals, and make insurance compete more. But if you federalize it, you standardize it and mandate it, you do not achieve that. And that's the big difference."

  • The People Need The Same, Health Care, As The People Thay Elect.......

  • Good thing I'm not a teacher. Better yet, good thing I don't have to deal with people that are 200 years behind in the research of biology.

If you have a problem with how people say things, instead of what they say, they you're a vitcim of the illusiveness of rhetoric.

Obama should listen to Ryan, as Ryan is far more adversed in the field of economics, which obviously Obama know very little about.

  • Paul Ryan is either profoundly stupid or profoundly dishonest. Health care is a GLOBAL issue, not a State's issue. The question is, why do we rank 32nd in quality of care even though we spend nearly twice as much per person as the second most expensive country???? That's what the private sector has given us.

  • The one good thing about Ryan's budget proposal is that it will put a lot of right wingers out of thier jobs and homes. They'll have to move in with the kids who won't have jobs either. Many will die from lack of proper affordable health care. I'm all for that.

  • @BelieversinThings How many people in those countries had to file for bankruptcy because they couldn't pay their medical bills? ........ah,....I thought so!

  • @Vetwolf13 Well in Canada the middle class pay 15% more in income tax per person as well as a 5-15% Gst,hst, pst rate. I don't know what the latter is because we don't have that in America. In Germany they pay 7% more in income tax as well as a 19% sales tax/vat rate. In France it's 5% and 19.6% sales tax. "What did you think?" Health care is free.
