They wrote some very good lyrics in the 1980's.. and Harborcoat is one of the best of them all. ;-)

I love this song. It's definitely one of my favourite R.E.M. songs.

Yeah, they've produced some great music, even recently, but their early IRS albums were almost perfect. I remember when I first listened to Reckoning, I was blown away. Peter Buck's guitar work was so light and whimsical, and I had NEVER heard anyone play bass like Mike Mills. Some of the countermelodies he wrote are really haunting.
