@yournameislimitless Are you familiar with Jerry Seinfeld’s term ‘a close talker’?… I don’t know what it was that made Tommy appear shy---I do see it myself (on film) but he was not shy atallatall.

I think this vid is from the International Cafe series which played on Channel 11 WTTW in Chicago. I remember these shows were my first exposure to Irish folk music at the age of 10 and I vowed at that time to marry Tommy Makem and never listened to anything but their music 'til I was grown up. Looking back even now I can see why I fell for Tommy M. He was a flirt AND a sexy as hell singer. Great memories. Thanks for this vid!

nothinb better than a good old fashioned irish tune fna keep 'er goin fella

@johndcorr I don't think he was shy, I'm pretty sure he was flirting with every girl in there while he was singing this. You can even see him chatting up a lady at the beginning of the song.

@TheJoetowngirl The joy in Liam's eyes shines with the bright of true diamonds.

He's having more good craic than the Clancys put together but he's subtle and genuine. The Clancy brothers tend to be far more stagey than our Tommy.

He's anything but shy! He's made the song lyrics fit - mentioning his home town of Keady and watch those expressions! he is marvelous!

lol....Tommy wasnt shy!!.....ahhh contraire! watch his eyes and shoulders....he was quite the flirt but just a horse of a different color....I love to watch him sing and communicate with his eyes!

I see it, too. Our Mr. Makem doesn't seem to be having as much fun as the rest of the lads, does he? =/
