The Philadephia Orchestra's rendition is my fav - followed by the NY Phil.
Parts of this were a little rushed.
If you get the chance, listen to the Phila. version - from about 20 years ago.

they played this peice so rushed....and it almost sounds liek some of the trumpet notes are jsut hitting the high notes...sorry im very critical about this peice... Dx

nice to see you have an eclectic palate to choose from; in terms of THIS being one of the finest you ever heard, apparently you haven't heard too many versions... Merry Christmas.

So what if I tell you I often get out four nights a week, and my taste in music ranges from Debussy to Louis Armstrong; Hank Williams to Tribe Called Quest; Sarah Vaughan to John Lee Hooker; and Scott Joplin to Jill Scott? Would I then be "hip" enough to get away with saying I enjoyed this performance? Maybe you need to experience the full gamut of life more often!

I think the jazz is a nice touch and advert from the classical nature of the remainder of the piece. Well chosen.

This is a great version -- one of the best I've ever heard. I love the fact that the pianist and the conductor respect the rhythm of the piece and the spirit of ragtime, jazz and blues embedded in it. For instance, is it me, or does the kettle drum keep the beat longer than usual in the finale? Thanks for posting!
