Hurt

A class project for Media Studies 200 @ Queens College.

Synopsis:

What happens when a self-mutilating girl can't express her feelings of isolation to the one person that cares for her? Hurt is a character-driven silent film short in which a woman comes home and finds a new mess left by her cohabitant. The woman tries to communicate the inappropriate nature of the girl's actions only to be pushed to her absolute breaking point. When the woman decides she cannot tolerate hings, any longer, the girl is forced to confront her actions and what it means to push away the only person still trying to reach her.

Director's Bio

A chronic asthma sufferer as a child he rarely attended school. Today, he is finally healthy enough to attend Queens College in NY and is trying to make the best of it as an undergraduate student. He is studies Psychology and has taken classes as diverse as Oriental Philosophy, Photography, Acting, Mandarin Chinese, and "Reacting to the Past". He also gives time to helping freshmen adjust to college life. Before making Hurt he had never used Final Cut Pro. Hurt is his first directorial and editing project while taking an introductory Media Studies class. He was the main person to work on the technical and much of the creative aspects of Hurt. He hopes to build an editing studio and to continue making films with students and others from his community.

Cast and Crew

Claudia Barragan played the role of Claudia Rodriguez. Ms. Barragan goes to Queens College and is a Media Studies major. She's Columbian; does spoken word and writes poetry in NYC.

Shaunna Lam played the role of Shaunna Rodriguez. Ms. Lam also goes to Queens College and has settled on a Media Studies major. It was her high school creative writing piece _Narrative_ which was adapted and became _Hurt_.

hey by the way the music choice was pretty great.. along with the shot positioning. Honestly iv seen couple projects from my class and thought they sucked.. both actresses were pretty good too.. my vid was pretty good also except if we had better lighting it woulda been perfect
