linux mint 8 is better than ubuntu. it is ubuntu +bugfixes +cedecs/slash/java. why stick with ubuntu?

I have both 9.10 and Mint 8, and I have a lot more fun with Mint, because it's got a lot more programs and features out of the box. I just wish Mint was the most popular distro.

@chris07081 LOL use whatever you like man .. that is what makes LINUX unique .. you have soo many distributions to choose from for your liking .. your not stuck under 1. Unlike winblows and mac :P

@adnan786lol ok truly disagree i wont also pay a buck to MS but i find linux stabler securer faster and well architecture...
especially linux mint 9 are also user friendly...if you havent yet try them...

I've used many flavors of Linux and I always fall back to vanilla Debian (been using Debian since 1998, Slackware before that since 1995). But I'm impressed with Mint 9 and have that installed on my little netbook and it runs beautifully, Deb on my PC broke because I upgraded to unstable and updates stalled and couldn't finish and now I can't get into login LOL.
I have Win 7 on a SSD and it boots in 12 seconds, Linux on a SSD would boot very fast but not a good idea due to constant writes.

@sookster54 Wow, you've been using linux for a while. It's only been 14 months for me and I've tried to use Debian but quite honestly, it just doesn't seem like the distro for me. Maybe I'll like it more when I learn more and more about linux. I'm running PClinuxOS right now. Great implementation of KDE4 I must say. Yeah, same thing happened to me when I upgraded to rawhide in Fedora.
