TL;DR - Yes, we do get treated differently in Korea, and our being a foreigner is strongly felt, but we don't experience anything terrible, discriminatory, or rude. People always treat us nicely in Korea, but they still treat us as outsiders.

  • Just want to clear a point, when i first was in seoul and i saw the publicity with cute, young men i thought ok korean men are gay, after a few days i thought korean men are gay but still dont know it, but after a while i thought they´re not gay they just embrace their feminine side without the prejudice in america, they use bags for men and touch, the public bath etc, but i guess in america we have more prejudice, i liked the fashion very much, it´s kind of free remembers me nyc

  • Would you care for some coffee ?

  • there was a guy at my school with an afro. i asked him if i could poke it. it was like wire.

  • So currently I'm a foreigner living in Korea. I have had Koreans point and say foreigner. I see it mostly from little kids because they don't understand and so their parents will tell them. I'm also fat. My older students will ask me why I'm fat. They don't understand but I use it as an opportunity to teach them. I've also had older Korean people yell at me for no reason and I have a lot of Koreans come up and try to speak English with me. I think it depends on where in Korea you live.
