This is my M.A.M.E. Arcade Cabinet that is currently a work in progress. I have about 7 hours into the build from the cabinet to the software. Next plans are to hide the keyboard with a removable or sliding panel. I've spent countless hours playing this machine with no problems and I'm very happy with it. This is my first build.

Cabinet - Xtension Tower Arcade Cabinet
Computer - Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop (XP)
Screen - Acer AL2216W (22")
Sound - Philips MMS171-PC 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System
Controls - X-Arcade Tankstick + Trackball
GUI - MAMEUI32
Other - Logitech G15 Keyboard, Sharp SPC106 Blue Lit Clock

I've always wanted a Home Network Server too but wanted a MAME Arcade Cabinet even more. One bad thing about a HNS is where will you store the hardware? How about make a dual purpose MAME Arcade Cabinet? Perfect! So that will be my next project. The parts coming out of my custom built PCs that are being updated with new hardware will be used to rebuild this MAME Arcade Cabinet / Home Network Server.

Here is a list of some of that out-dated hardware going into the build.

EVGA 790i Motherboard
Super Talent SDRAM DDR3 1800
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz 65W Dual-Core Processor
EVGA 8600 GTS Video Card
- and more to come

Any questions? Just ask.

  • Thanks! I went with a 2 player build because I was looking for a nice size unit that did not take up too much space. Plus 90% of the time the only games being played on this machine are 2 player fighters and scrolling shooters.

  • @ProspeedCTR How or where did you get the Honda commercial guy from?

  • @vietdude1979 I used to work at a local Honda dealership. Thought he'd make a nice addition to the video.

  • @ProspeedCTR It would've been nicer if he actually says something instead of just standing stiff there like a tree trunk/trying to be a hunk.

  • you shold get a mame frontend and hide the keybord... make it look yorz :)

  • Without a monitor bezel, it just looks like a computer stuck inside a fancy shelf.

  • I'm ordering the tankstick because the ball actually spaces the stickes out further so yor not so close to the other person standing next to you. I will be ordering the Xtension Arcade Pedestal just so I can play with a 32" LCD screen.

  • how heavy is the cabinet before the monitor and other things ?

also was it a pain to configure the x arcade controller to the pc ?

  • Dude, you were prob the answer to my prayers. I wanted to do a nice, decent sized cabinet with Hyperspin FE that I payed for and even the tankstick that I have aswell. Didn't know what it was going to look like but you pretty much made it up in a nutshell for me. thanks a bunch.

  • umm wow thats supposed to look like a real arcade game??

  • plz use a bezzel. it would make it look nicer. and if you want to figure out how to make a controll pannel without using prefabed controlls there is a vid i have faved i could show ya taht would make its SO MUCH EASIER!
