This video was taken one mile offshore from the Wright Brothers Monument. It was in the winter during the Rockfish migration along the coast.

How far off of the coast were ya? I go to Kitty Hawk every year and dream of seeing something like this. Last summer some guy got eaten by a shark, closest I got to marine life

Looks choppy out there. Actually, these are humpback whales. Humpacks are about 40 feet long and have that "hump" just ahead of their dorsal fin. Finbacks are 60-70 feet, and very rarely bring their tail out of the water.

They are "Finback" whales. They are around 40 feet long. Thanks for viewing.
