I love Coltrane to death, but I gotta be honest with myself. Between the two sax solos, Adderly's takes the cake for me.. just the way he makes it flow, swoon and swell, just... god damn. Absolutely impeccable.

I meant no disrespect. My apologies if I caused any offense. I just meant to express my appreciation of the music the black community brought to America. I don't really like using terms such as 'African-American' since not all black people are from Africa, just as not all white people are from England. Things would get really confusing if people had to refer to me as an Austrian-Scottish-Englishman, or some such.

14 people were so impressed with the beauty and skill of Miles' trumpet playing, they tried to play their trumpet upside down.

it's not the war between themselves, the two solos are impeccable, listen at 3:18, what a great fucking curl coltrane did ! just a pure poem, in perfect harmony with next parts ! cheers.

Cannonball's solo is by far my favorite alto solo period. It speaks to me so deeply, especially the B7b9 section two chords from the end. The way he projects is so straight and clear, it seems to me like an air raid siren of that era. So beautiful, yet it almost forshadows a dark event to unfold, resolving to a peaceful melody on the E-7
