****************

Procession of Iraqi refugee residents of Nabatiyeh in commemoration of Ashura and in mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH (October 2, 680 CE).

Many modern Shi'i clerical authorities have outlawed self-mutilation in mourning of Imam Hussayn, a centuries-old tradition. Nevertheless, Karbala and Najaf in Iraq along with Nabatiyeh in Lebanon remain the most tolerant to this widely-criticised tradition. Although its clerical authorities do not indulge in self-mutilation, they permit it and refuse puritanical Shi'i scholarship that outlaws the practice.

  • @Notgoingnowhere @Notgoingnowhere Whether or not I think their actions are justified is beyond discussion with takfiris . But I must apologise, I didn't know there were men on earth who had the authority to tell what is Islam and what isn't. Glad your holiness pointed me to the right path.

Btw, learn how to spell "astragallah" before u throw it at ppl !
