Cowboys in the rodeo circuit travel from rodeo to rodeo. Sometimes driving all night to hit the next on by morning. It's not uncommon for them to travel to 3 different rodeos in one weekend, many many miles apart.  "They took my saddle" I am interpreting to mean he felt unfairly judged, as often saddles are given as trophies ( I have a huge stack of them in my living room). I don't think it's referring to someone stealing it because true cowboys follow a strict "code of the west".

Amarillo is a city in the Texas Panhandle . I grew up there and the song is about a guy trying to make it to the rodeo and the ups and downs he has gone threw to get there . The song was written by Terry Stafford and come to find out he is an alum at my old high school . I hope this helps you Dina .

I hate to break it to you but Australia is every bit if not more country than we are here in America . I love me some George Strait but Keith Urban is very good as well . I love Texas country like the names you mentioned and there is believe it or not Texas country such as Cross Canadian Ragweed that in some peoples mind would be considered not traditional country . As the late great Chris Ledoux said " Evan Cowboy;s like a little but of rock and roll " .
