An update on efforts to denuclearize North Korea. The United States' chief envoy, Christopher Hill, says he's pressing Pyongyang for verification of its claims that it has cut plutonium production.
[Christopher Hill, Chief U.S. Envoy]:
"I have to say we are going to focus very much on the verification regime to wrap up this phase. We have been discussing that with all the other partners in the process. I do not think there will be any surprises but then maybe we can put something together."
In late June, the North publicly destroyed its Yongbyon facility cooling tower and presented a long-delayed account of its nuclear weapons program that contained information on its plutonium production.
