Part 5 of 15 Ketinoa Videos Revived Zakharova Mariinsky Romeo & Juliet Shklyarov Moiseyeva Ulanova

This will be the fifth of 15 videos, uploaded this week, that had been visible on youtube from Ketinoa, until copyright claims by the Balanchine Trust removed all 1,300 Ketinoa videos.
This video features Bolshoi Ballet star, Svetlana Zakharova's first full length ballet performance at the Mariinsky Theatre in many years. Since leaving the Mariinsky Ballet company, she had danced several time sin galas, but never a full length ballet. Since then, she ahs danced Giselle and will dance Swan lake soon. The video shows her February 22, 2009 performance of the Leonid Lavrovsky choreography of Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet, plus her rehearsing. Her only Mariinsky coach, Olga Moiseyeva, discusses the rehearsals along with comments about Galina Ulanova. Zakharova gives thanks to Maya Dumchenko, who was Juliet when Galina Ulanova came at the age of 86( the announcer incorrectly gave her age as 87) to coach Maya Ducmhenko for her debut as Juliet in 1996. The scene from act 1, when Romeo lifts up Juliet to his shoulder, is shown with Andris Liepa, Dumchenko's Romeo, lifting up Ulanova to great applause from those in attendance.
Romeo in this performance was Vladimir Shklyarov.

@nicanor79 With a ballerina that is a great actress and great dancer, the Lavovsky version is the best Romeo and Juliet that exists. Romeo and Juliet is a great dramatic story and that is what Lavrovsky created. If you are looking for pure dancing and little acting, then Grigorovich would be your choice. Lavrovsky requires the best acting and has wonderful dancing also for Juliet.

The 15 were all great, but this is my favourite...just love Svetlana. I think she's perfect in this role.

That was nice, Dumchenko deserves much more recognition.... and it must have been exciting for Zakharova to dance full lenght ballet with the Mariinsky... and at last and by the way, Madame Ulanova is amazing! I´m loving this 15 videos again....

Zakharova is great in certain roles but Juliet is not one of them, she's miscast in R&J.
