Just look at this!! What a voice! I didn't know he could sing so beautifully. Simply beautiful rendition of a beautiful song by Sterling Holloway. He has to clear his throat but it is very original and believing whether it was intentional, I don't know. Very rare find of him singing such a beautiful heart warming song, and a wonderful movie! Thanks to the writer of "A Perfect Day" Carrie Jacobs-Bond, circa 1910

  • SO VERY TRUE

  • Thanks for your comments; I appreciate them greatly. You call yourself an opera snob; yet it does not affect your ability or desire to listen to a much lesser clip with sincere appreciation and intelligence. Not many will lower their standards to this degree.I made a comment on an opera page of a singer known as Flagstad and was not very complimentary; it took weeks but finally someone agreed w/me. I just call it like I hear it; perhaps I better stay in my own yard-lol. Happy Veterans day.

  • this is what were missing today, song, and an ear for good music in a privite home.

  • Of course, Stanwyck is not really playing the piano, but Sterling is singing, and so are frd and th others, and it's unbearably touching.

  • One of the things that is so great about this is that Sterling Holloway sings with not only the sincerity of the character he's playing, but also with that of the person he is. So very touching.

  • sterling sings awsome!

  • I was so happy to finally find this movie on DVD in 2010. When it gets to this part of the movie I always fight back my tears. It's simple beauty gets me every time. It reminds me of my dad. He loved these old movies as much as I do. He died in 2003 at the age of 81 and I still miss him. He was not a good father in his early years, but as he grew older, he understood that his kids loved him and loved us back in return. It is sad that it took him so long to see it. I wanted more time!

  • acting has gone down.... in the 1940's to the 1970's there was no special effects or anything to distract the audience from the actors themselves. An actor had to be fit (no photoshop) had to sing, do his own stunts, and make an entire movie with his believability and dedication to the role. these days you just need fake tits and to know the right people. pathetic.

  • I'm just a little black rain cloud...
