Datsun 100A runs after standing 27 years

Showing Datsun 100A starting, freed the clutch and all 4 wheels which had seized up. Then we towed it down the road to get some compression into it, then hooked up fresh petrol and a battery, and off she went.

Great wee engines but prone to blowing the head gasket between 2 and 3. Alloy head and cast iron block expanded at different rates. Got it down to 2 hours to swap the gaskets. These engines were based on a British design btw. if you ran it out of fuel the battery would die before the lift pump filled the carb. Clutch can be changed in about 20 mins. used to run mine on 2 star but would go like the clappers on 4 star or formula shell.

Datsun could have been based in Hong Kong and Solihull, England because the company name sounds Anglo-Chinese instead of Japanese.

0:03 it has the Datsun "D" but at 0:18 thetre's the Nissan "N" in the steering wheel, I didn't know it could have both :P

Damn shame Datsun arent still making cars. My brother in law's 2 year old car barely starts first time nowadays.

The old ones are the best and this video pays homage to your attraction of Datsuns.. :D
