  • i am trying to figure out how to get involved in one of these groups as a beginner without the seasoned vets loathing me.

  • These are nice folks. However, you're better off taking lessons, rather than trying to join a team right off the bat. If you're good, and you get out an dance, people will notice. Good luck!

  • and where was the indian steps ??

  • The "Indian" step is the one where they swing one leg out while the other foot "chugs" on the floor. It has a tom-tom like sound to it that is the reason for the name.

Ask for lessons or dance groups on your local Craigslist---and go with a friend--
