Summer is fast approaching and that means that the Galatic core of our Galaxy will be visible over head. Taken on April 30th,2011. This time Lapse show the Milky Way Galaxy returning back to the night.
Taken with a Canon EOS 5D MK II, Tokina 16-28mm f2.8 @ 16mm. 30sec exposure, WB 4000K, ISO 3200.
There are many myths and legends for the origin of the Milky Way. The Greeks believed it was the breast milk from the mother of Hercules. The Kung Bushmen of the Kalahari desert called it the "Back Bone of Night". It was believed that it held the stars in place.
I have the great fortune to be able to see such a beautiful sight. Its sad to think that many haven't had the opportunity to see such a beautiful thing. Being able to look and see the Milky Way does wonderful things, its just so majestic.
One of my favorite bible verses, Isaiah 40:26, explains the majestic beauty of the night sky. "Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing."
stunning footage of the centre of creation in this world.
