The place that smelled at the begining of your video was the rubbish disposal insinarator

Interesting !!!
If you had carried on up at the end of the film i've just bought a house that backs onto the canal just before bridge 117 before festival park marina

Special to see where the Trent and Mersey got its main funding from :) The Potteries are changing ... and like all changes some not for the better :)

Good video. I had never seen the make shift tunnel while work was been done on the A500 next to the canal. Stoke is a dying city as are most places in the UK ( the main export of the UK now is people). Great Britain was the world leader in so many different areas of manufacturing, now we're just Britain!
Back to Stoke, if you want find out what a fantastic, creative and world leading city Stoke was, then buy a copy of 'The Lost City of Stoke on Trent', by Matthew Rice (fantastic read).

Yes, we have a "mixed marriage." Both of us are orginally from York, but one has a "New" in front of it whilst the other has a "shire" at the end of it. We type to each other a lot, as we can't understand each other's spoken English. At least one of us needs to broaden our vocabulary. Maybe next time the scenes will be "engrossing" "facinating" or "absorbing" rather than "interesting."

We went past a place called Middleport Pottery on the 1st day of our trip, it's between Etruria Junction and the south end of the Harecastle Tunnel. Don't think that they made Spode there though and for some unkown reason we have no footage of it.
If you think Stoke-on-Trent is bad you should try Bradford matey. I was dragged up there before escaping to the USofA

Used to work that section as a boy from Stoke boat club, certainly has changed from my days

I know what you mean, it's the same everywhere. They've ripped out Britains Industrial Heartland and replaced it all with shopping centres connected together with ring roads!
I think that immediately after the incinerator bridge the first buildings we see are the remains of the Kerr Stuart Locomotive Works where the late, great L T C Rolt served his apprenticeship.
