What started out as a lovely ride with three friends, turned a little sour once the crash happened. This is a video of that day...

An update to The Crash: The woman who I believed caused it all only sustained a fractured arm and chest injuries caused by the seatbelt. The lady in the Green Car (which was only bought by the couple on Friday and they were on their way home with it when it happened) suffered a possible fractured skull, a fractured right arm, and a chest injury caused by the seat belt. The driver of the Green Car sustained back injuries, abdominal injuries, a suspected fractured pelvis and head injuries and was choppered to the Brisbane hospital with the Crash Care Unit in it. No airbags in that car. Here is some other footage filmed by a local news media http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBD02qzqVdE And this is a link to a story about the crash http://www.thechronicle.com.au/story/2011/06/06/father-sees-daughter-in-horro...

The police did get in touch with me and required a Version of the events. But as the officer who asked me to come in was not there another officer saw me and the Version became a fullblown Statement. A 90 minute affair after a long work day. This is Just In Case they need to upgrade the charges against the At Fault Driver and it would become part of their Brief Of Evidence. And should it go to court I May be required to attend as a Witness.

For those in South East Queensland who wonder what road we rode on, the ride route is this http://tinyurl.com/5waxeev

  • thats what happens when you drive on the wrong side of the road.

  • @MrKinghuman That's what happens when you don't pay attention. When I first got behind the wheel of the car by myself legally and was about to drive off, my father said to me, "Remember, you are now in control of a Lethal Weapon, treat it as such." This video shows what happens when people do Not treat it with care and respect a lethal weapon deserves.

  • Great vid my friend!! Nice commentary!!

  • @navythomas8 Thank you. I tried to shoot what I thought would be interesting while also avoiding showing the injured people up close and personal. News only show small bites, I figure a more prolonged look at certain things adds to the realism.

  • @SalaciousShadow Sure was a dampener. Thanks for the great work you and Dave did in terms of controlling the traffic and letting the drivers know to slow right down as the passed by. Hope that's the last time we see an accident like that on one of our rides. Best wishes mate.

  • @TKTex1 Well, after 90+ minutes at the police station giving a statement I hope all recover and I don't get called as a witness to greater charges - no court means all recover = the ideal end result.

Had heard the question about a chopper being needed but didn't know if one had been called either, at the time. And while the lay of the land May have had some bearing, there was no attempt from the sedan to slow down which means not even slowing to negotiate the turn. Local knowledge gone bad.

  • @MrMarchant71 Yup. We all thought they were toast. It was a relief to see them moving around even though they were in pain. It pays to now the roads you travel and the distances from points to points. Just in case ambulances need to be called.

  • @michaelrossonline Totally agree, I think they were probably unsighted of each other given the lie of the land around that spot. Great vid and thanks for being the first to contact the emergency services. That may well have made all the difference to whether they survived at all.

I heard the paramedic talking on his radio about getting a chopper to attend, but had no idea they called one in until I saw your link. Hope they all recover well and thanks for another great ride.

  • @SalaciousShadow Yeah, I thought bunged up leg. But when the body decides there are internals and takes action, all we can do is watch the deterioration. Funny thing was, as I'd meant to take Us up that road and saw the oncoming cars I thought I'll have to slow us down cause the intersection is deceptive and I don't want any of us to crash. Just have to make sure the next outing is free of incident. Now off to Google Maps to see what I can see :)

  • @TKTex1 It certainly was a relief to see them all moving and alive. And for a highspeed headon, they faired reasonably well. And to think, 5 seconds either way and the crash wouldn't have happened.
