Nello Santi, conductor - Köln, January 17th 1977 Sadly, not a good Evening for Madame Moser, who has some troubles with high notes. Anyway, a great Artist indeed.
@Dymension It's rheumatoid arthritis, the same illness that struck Gail
Robinson, and took away her voice. Edda got treatment an in a few years, she had her voice back, not as powerfull in the higher register as it was, but the vigor came back.
Such a treasure! Edda is for sure one of a kind. A huge voice, capable of an F3 as well as a G6 with the same easy. In 1977 the illness had already seriously affected her voice, it had lost almost its entire vigor and top register...Heartbraking. And look what she still could do with a damaged voice! Such a wonderful sound, controlled, precise, with intrincate coloratura, what a singer! A trully Dramatic Coloratura.
She has a little trouble with the highest notes & her initial "Edgardo!" . What's with the small annoying voices in the background ? She sings beautifully and grandly though I prefer Lucia to sound fragile and not as regal as Edda here, this is a healthy round Lucia like Caballe's. But Edda was talented enough to sing diverse role like Salome, Donna Anna, Queen of the Night & Lucia!! I have her Wagner aria album (Liebestod & Brunnhilde Immolation)..what a talented opera singer!!!
thanks for the information and the video :)
