My latest project - The Wallet Stove
My goal was to create a simple, ultra light, collapsible, multifuel camp stove burning either alcohol or esbit tablets and compact enough to fit in your wallet.

Plans are at:
http://tinyurl.com/lkucxz

I used an aluminum basket from my turkey fryer as the source of the sheet metal; hence the holes seen in the uprights of the stove.

Esbit - 16oz Water
Boil Time: 6:35
Burn Time 11:13

Tealight w/ denatured alcohol - 16oz Water
Boil Time: 10:15
Burn Time 10:30

Explore Your Potential by making your own gear.
I know you can do it if I can.

  • Great design!

How well has this stove held up with repeated use?

  • @titan90000 After one year of use it is still going strong. I occasionally clean the Esbit smut off and make it shine again. Change out the foil burn platform after 2 or 3 Esbit burns just to keep the stove clean. I do carry it in my cook pot instead of my wallet - it bends if you sit on it but so do all other stoves.

  • Friar, what is Esbit?

  • Esbit is a high density solid fuel in tablet form. It's the white cube shown on the burn platform. Being solid it can not spill in your pack/bag and soak your gear like liquid fuels. The down side is that it leaves a residue on the bottom of your pot . Coghlan's and StanSport make similar but smaller fuel tablets

  • Friar, you are very clever. I am a bowmaker. That is violin and cello bows. I do silver jewelry too. I will make your stand but not in silver. What is the little block that heats. You should patten this. I will send your video out. Why havent we met before?

  • Thanks amemi21

  • Awsome great design Friartuck.

  • I never get tired of revisiting this ingenius stove. I just wish one of you stove addicts could come up with an 'esbit necklace stove'. A tiny survival stove that would use esbit or iso alcohol that you could wear as a necklace to be used in an emergency.

  • I made one with tin cans but haven't tested it out yet on a pan or heavy object...

  • haha neat :P

  • Very cool concept!

  • NOw THAT is too cool !!

  • hold on let me fit this heineken in my wallet

  • Is there any way to adapt this stove to use wood or is it just too tiny?

  • My stove addiction has brought me to research and buy many stoves yet this still has to be one of the most clever and functional ever created! "Make the journey worthy of the destination"...Laurie

  • i tried this with a tin can and it failed :,( i gonna try with thick brass next.
