@MsDovewing Other than you, who says that I have lost the arguement? "THOU SHALT NOT KILL?" Have you asked how much killing is being done already in your name? Millions across the world are already being killed because of climate change and resource wars? We have attacked Iraq with radio-logical weapons. We have destroyed the Niger delta? Plenty of killing is already being done.

@MsDovewing what is so unprincipled about linking climate change, nuclear war and societal collapse with Trident?
-
@MsDovewing Thank you. The problem with the argument that we should not have Trident because it kills people and that nuclear war is bad, is that it is immediately open the challenge that to preserve peace we should prepare for war. The proponents of Trident have used this for years and have won every time. The argument that Trident will lead to certain planetary destruction through climate change in the near future and to certain war is actually much more pressing and more difficult to beat.

Actually it feels to me like i've been sat on the lifebouy for ages but nobody is swimming towards me.
Looks as if we are well and truely stuffed then?

@russellbar01 Not wanting to sound too pessimistic - then yes. The best analogy is the Titanic. If you were in the water after it sunk and could see a lifebuoy on the far horizon, would you swim for it and help as many people as you could, knowing that only some of them would get there, or give up and drown. This is situation we face today, first you have to be lucky enough to spot the lifebuoy, convince others that it is there and then convince them that it is worth the risk to go for it.
