A video about the ethical side of my fruit diet.I believe that it is the diet that causes the least suffering to both plants and animals; it also looks at the issue of plants feeling pain. Thank you for watching.

  • What did you do to your hair? I noticed it's in a different style... And plants are not sentient (lack brain, neurons, etc. and all basic parts needed for the organism to be able to achieve sentience).

Thank you for your comment ♥

My hair started to grow curlier!

I feel that people usually judge plants sentience by their own animal standards.

What if plant sentience has its own standards and physiology, and cannot be compared to animal sentience?

I, personally, believe that plants are sentient, but this does not mean they have the same sentience as animals, after all their physical stucture does not resemble ours either!

  • There is also newer book about similar subject but I'm not sure it's been translated into English (yet). It's by German scientists and filmmakers (there is also movie by same name) and it's called Kluge Pflanzen (Smart or Clever Plants) by Volker Arzt. It tells about research that showed that plants do have something that plays a role of nervous system, muscles and even brain, they can communicate and seem to have some primitive consciousness.

  • A lot of science here! NOT... How can plats feel pain or emotion without a brain or sensory neurones. Someone didn't go to school

I can appreciate that plants have a very different physiology from animals, but I feel that this does not exclude them from feeling emotions or pain. Just because their biological structure differs from mammals does not mean that the structure they do have is incapable of feeling pain.

People used to justify fishing by saying that fish could not feel pain until they learned differently. I feel that plants are indeed sentient beings ♥

  • @fruitbatanne Thanks for responding both this video and the other! I was just mentioning the Plant thing cause science people like i will think you're crazy if you think they're sentient they way we are... Thanks once again! :)

It sounds like you are concerned about fruit trees needing a lot of nutrients.

I think we can enrich our fruit trees by using our own green compost, and rock dust and zeolite. I think also fruit trees are part of the balance of nature and the microbes, worms and other small creatures that live in the undisturbed soil under the trees are all part of soil health and balance.

I feel all trees are very valuable to soil health and structure.

  • Have you considered broader issues? Like, say, that fruit trees generally require rich soil which is not adequately replenished by returning fruit peel, pith, and other material after eating?

This effectively means that if you're a fruitarian, you take-take-take food and don't contribute to giving anything back to the soil that sustains the fruit trees you require for food. Seed dispersion or not, it's not really a fair give/take.

Is this less important than the issues you're discussing?

I think the Secret Life of Plants is a very interesting book, I read it many years ago, and it had a profound effect on my life.

As I became aware that the plants around me had their own consciousness, I feel my mind and soul were opened up to other ideas and possibilities.

It is sometimes difficult though, to express this belief without people feeling that they are being judged for eating plants, which is not at all my intention.
