With the introduction of a rule according to which Drizzle and Swift Swim can't be used in the same team in OU, has the rulebook finally jumped the shark? Today I ask you, dear audience, to give your input on the subject, whether you're mostly an in-game player or a Pokégod with voting rights. (Just kidding, if anyone who watches me actually has voting rights, I will eat my socks.)

And yes, this is basically all I talk about today. But I think this is an important issue that could negatively affect the future of the game, and one that's sadly being very much overlooked, so it's definitely worth explaining my views on it.

If Drizzle+Swift Swim is banned, then Sand Stream+ Sand Veil should be too.

How so? 20% evasion is far, FAR less threatening than double STAB AND double speed.

Well, I'll admit, I was one of those people at one point in time who, when I first tried to get into competitive battling, thought that the rulebook was too complicated and have now decided to wait to get into competitive battling until both I educate myself as much as possible, and B/W is released in English.

And doesn't Vaporeon get Hydration through DW? And is there not an event where they already gave this away in Japan? (I know about Manaphy, but I'm talking Standard/OU rules.) Why not ba

Vaporeon does get Hydration, but we won't know its potential until Manaphy's out of the way (which should happen in the next few hours). And Hydration isn't as menacing as Swift Swim, since it's purely defensive, whereas Swift Swim equals defense through offense. After all, your target is less likely to fight back if it dies before doing so rather than after.

Is there an actual compilation thread of all the new Gen V metagame rules which have been made official?

There's no real need for that, because for the time being you can fit them in a YouTube comment. Are currently banned: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys-RS, Deoxys-FR, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina-A, Giratina-O, Darkrai, Shaymin-S, Arceus, Reshiram, Zekrom, OHKO moves, evasion moves, Soul Dew and Inconsistent. Standard rules: Freeze Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause, no Drizzle and Swift Swim on the same team.

It should stop when you can't use a certain pokemon if you're using another, it's getting crazy.

For example, swift swim+drizzle is too much, because it makes it alot trickier to make a team, especially for new players.

A reason why I think the banning of Combos is bad is, that it changes one aspect significantly. Inside of one tier, you were able to choose whatever 6 Pokemon you wanted and slap them on a team, but now there is a start to dividing the tiers in some sort of groups, which are all allowed, but you can't mix. They are changing simple and easy to understand classification to a bunch of big groups (the original tiers) with multiple subclasses, while also lowering the total amount of possible teams.
