http://www.lifesareach.com. Second generation movable outrigger.
First generation http://www.dcss.org/speedsl/crossbow.html from 1978, 60ft in wood, "20 knots in winds of 10 knot". Weighs less than 30% of 60ft carbon Stars and Stripes catamaran!

  • too much movement of the boat itself - how can that work with waves, currents, weight on top

also, when you tack, you go around the front of the mast - not enuff room on the platform for that

think it would be better like the serenity dual hull that starboard built :-)

  • @joewindsurf101 Good Points. Could have lock or high friction in trimaran mode, when main hull is in the middle of the two outriggers. More deck space can be added to help tacking. With 2 people, one can hold boom while other moves around stern. Its great to have Starboard as company when you are trying something different.

  • I built something like that about 20 years ago. Main hull was 13 inches wide and 16 feet long. Had a single outrigger for stability. You can step on the main hull when tacking but is comes around really slow. Jibs still slow but quicker if you sink the tail some. It might still be in my storage in So Cal is anyone wants to mess with it.
