This is an ad-libbed piece of music that I named after the AD79 Mt Vesuvius eruption and its subsequent pyroclastic flow which destroyed the area. I was quite happy about the film soundtrack feel to it and the orchestral flavour.

However, remember the old-school way of classifying things as ALIVE/DEAD/NEVER ALIVE? Well this was originally going to be called 'For Ennio' (see Ennio Morricone) but I decided to look for something less than alive! Vesuvius won me over and I decided to put these slides from Pompeii and the surrounding area against the music to enhance the feel.

But, although this music is 'Vesuvius', it'll always be dedicated to Ennio Morricone: a musical centurion of the first order.
