  • Thank you for posting this, "chalomirof63"!

I remember watching SCTV late on Friday nights back in the day, and in the 30+ years since, having found nothing that tops it !

Easily one of the most talented casts, on one of the greatest comedy sketch shows ever, in the entire history of television!

  • @msdemos Very welcome - and I little semi-related story; while watching SCTV late Fri. night like you, (1983), I had a kidney stone attack while watching Martin Short's Ronco "Shower & Blow Dryer in a Suitcase" sketch. I wanted to laugh, but was in too much pain!! LOL.

  • @chalomirof63

Sorry for that.......can't imagine the pain (nor would I want to) associated with a kidney stone attack. Heard that's REALLY no fun.

Hope it's nothing more than a bad memory for you now....

  • @msdemos Haaa! Thanks - yes, just a bad, BAD memory, (1983) - was dieting, not drinking enough fluid, etc. It finally caught up with me. :)

  • AWESOME!

  • @giles422 Holy S***: That was quick!!!!

  • Awesome! Even funnier than this though was when Bob crashes Masterpiece Theatre and Alistair Cooke pulls a knife on him.

"That's it, I'm not doing *this* episode!" *throws book on the floor*

Man, I am itcing for all these early episodes to get a dvd release!

  • Too many years have passed since I have seen this. I had a vhs copy that actually wore out, I played it so much. Thank you for posting! And it is great to see Nixon hasn't lost that "stooped shoulder" look! LOL!

  • Funny ... but I don't think Dave Thomas had perfected his Bob Hope impression yet.

  • now this is comedy. and, original.

  • oh this is JUST TOO AWESOME...this would NEVER pass network censors at NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX nowadays - and it would still be considered risque for Comedy Central et al...such fast and deep content...

  • Just TOO,TOO damn good & AHEAD of it's time!

NBC was probably scared 2 have such a product on their hands w SNL 2 pander to - so SCTV got the shaft & yetl did 100 X more w a fraction of what NBC gave SNL..

Likely the same swampy, oily, steaming gene pool that FOX execs who botchd & mishandled Arrested Development emerged from-OR the ones(NBC)responsible 4 News Radio Demographics bottom liners/feeders,ad weasels, markertrs, buzztrakrs sure SUCK the LIFE frm our culture SCTV 4ever!
