You said any software (except from China) will work on a DS because they're region free?

So if I go to Japan (as I plan to in April) then I could bring back a game and play it (日本語で)on a DS here no problem? :O??

Yes, that should work fine. My US DS will play any Japanese DS software.

So would I be able to Translate the English words to Kanji by putting in English words?

You can look up English words to get the Japanese (which includes kanji). Despite the name, it doesn't have a dedicated kanji dictionary. It only has a J-E, E-J and J-J.

@jns4chat I know this post is old, but you need to select the "kanji" option instead of kana.

at the left side where you are supposed to write the kanji there are 4 different tabs, try each one of them and write

From what I see, this thing is mostly a dictionary. I'm going to study in Japan for a year starting September.

So, I was wondering if anyone who has this software thinks it is comparable to a Denshi Jisho （電子辞書）which are quite expensive?
