I agree entirely with orchardist1965 sentiments. To cast Phil Silvers as Sergeant Bilko was a stroke of genius.

The mark of enduring success is when the character as with Bilko is known and loved well beyond the time the series was made. Thanks to the wonderful Phil Silvers.

Sgt Bilko is one of my all time favourite comedies and Phil Silvers was from what I've heard a very nice man. Thank you for sharing this.

Golden age of television.

The only thing I ever liked Phil Silvers in was It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Bilko is one of the few shows from that era that I really don't like, although some of the supporting players and guest actors in it are fun at times.

liked it didn't get the joke though lol

@ShermansAlley ~ very true, happy chandler went against a 15-1 baseball owner vote to keep baseball segregated in 1947, many think that's why happy wasn't voted back in as commissioner, he then became governor of kentucky for a second time, he supported the civil rights movement angering southern dixiecrats most notably outspoken racist strom thurmond.
happy more than deserves his place in the baseball hall of fame.

@Indygoguy The jokes simple. She just happened to look like a little girl. Bilko mistook her for this young innocent naive little thing, but someone whos just came back from Reno is far from naive. The joke centers around Bilkos cander and the mistaken identity.
that was back in the days there were people worth giving respect to.not anymore

Watch this all the way to the end, and you'll see a cameo appearance by A.B. "Happy' Chandler, the just-elected governor of Kentucky who might be most famous as the baseball commissioner who okayed Jackie Robinson to play in 1947.
