  • Jericho has said in interviews recently that he feels WWE is at a crisis point when it comes to a lack of new stars. A strong argument could be made that WWE doesnt have a sense of urgency to create new stars due to a lack of true competition. If TNA were to begin making a dent in WWEs business, it could lead to a sense of urgency that has been missing from WWEs business model for promoting and elevating new stars.

  • @tymoney321

You can also look at it from a different light. The federation at the time had to make new stars because most of their stars left. The E always had the power and skills necessary to make stars the problem lies in the follow through and bad choice making.

I must add that they have been doing a great job with Kofi.

  • TNA is worrying way too much about putting WWE out of business

  • Competiting for talent and trying to get competitive ratings is one thing but going head to head on Monday night is just stupid.

  • You are very niave. Unfortunatly the world isn't all peaces and cream. You try to be the best, but hey, so the next guy. Thats how it works. You win or you lose.

  • In business outdoing the competition is the name of the game. WWE's slide into mediocrity is due to their monopoly on mainstream wrestling. They didn't have to do their best as a promotion- who was competing with them? But with TNA's recent moves, they (hopefully) will take notice and start improving.

  • Injury risk is always present, no matter if you are in a extremme match CZSW type or in a lame for kids match WWE style.

  • But not CM Punk.

  • but, on another side, i have to quote ken anderson here.

"mr. kennedy died in a trainwreck, and that trainwreck can subsequently be watched every monday night on USA network.

Where you can watch the same 5 guys do the same 5 things for the last 5 years."

    he's got a point there.

  • And btw - it wasn't competition, which killed WCW and made the WWF a monopole. WCW messed up in so many different aspects, that they literally screwed themselves out of business (backstage politics, stupid booking decisions, throwing money around as if it was candy etc.). Ultimately I think that WCW couldn't carry it's own weight as soon the times got tougher for them.

  • It is absolutely possible to have a mainstream shared by several promotions (like in Japan). But this is absolutely not the case in the U.S. You have the WWE and a little bit of TNA and ROH. And the WWE runs even three shows a week ... but the WWE style isn't really attracting me as a fan anymore. Their whole product is so overblown in nearly every aspect. But they can afford it, since there is no equally big alternative out there. And if this about to change, I think it's for the better.

  • Well, I get your point. But competition is something that will automatically result, whenever a promotion wants to achieve an equal or nearly equal status like the WWE in the USA. Because the WWE wants to be up there alone. And since they own everything of WCW and the ECW and since the remaining NWA isn't much to talk about, WWE owns a significant part of American wrestling tradition. They are currently in an allmighty position. And they want to stay there alone.

  • You know I can agree with that. WWE is always capable of making new stars but they often choose not to.

I'm enjoying what they are doing on Raw with Kofi. But these next few months will be critical for Kofi. A couple of bad choices and he will fizzle back into the lower card again.
