  • I thought the wiimote needed *two* lights to track the position?

  • It needs two to track rotation and depth. For pointing it only needs one.

  • I am moving a real flame around and, subsequently, simulated fire is drawn on the screen in front of me.

If the lighter was not there then I would just be a person waving my arm around in a dark room.

I would say that the lighter constitutes the lion's share of the point.

  • so the lights kinda pointless then

  • That is not a sentence.

  • I think that if you put your Wiimote upside down, the fire would go the correct way.

  • Then it would go the correct way left/right, but up/down would be inverted instead!

  • Guys, come on... Not EVERYTHING requires a point to make it cool. He's painting Simulated Fire with Fire! It's an art, of sorts. I'm sure you Could do something similar with a standard webcam instead of a wiimote, invert the left and right signals and make it "mirrored" anyway. How he's doing it, what he's doing, all cool. Does it have a point? Does it need to?

  • wow, very nice video!, FIRE!!!.. cool

  • Ha! Excellent work, sir!

  • wow .... thats cool ,

since I installed ubuntu on my computer

I discovered many things , but I never thought that we can do

    such cool thing with linux

keep it up man , I loved ur work

  • Correct since the Wiimote uses infrared sensors to track position and a flame is a great infrared source.

So, short of waving the bar thing around or powering up and waving an infrared led, you used a lighter.

Come on everyone who says this is pointless and crap, it's not, it's a unique use of the Wii controls. If you think it's pointless, then go watch something else, after all the title was clear about what he was doing.

  • sorry. so the lighter is kind of pointless then isn't it
